Set in picturesque Essex countryside, adjacent to a river and a tree-lined lake, Chalkney Water Meadows is a stunning and unique outdoor Essex wedding venue that is well worth considering as a potential setting for your big day.
Ceremonies take place on the lakeside willow pontoon, which create the most incredible backdrop when saying ‘I do’, and you and your guests have exclusive use of this stunning venue for the duration of your stay.
Due to its remote yet easily-accessible location, Chalkney Water Meadows is a wedding venue that makes you feel like your wedding day is taking place in your own little world – far removed from the noise and stresses of everyday life.
Whilst there are facilities for music, dancing and drinking, the venue provides a real sense of peace and tranquillity for couples who are looking to connect with the outdoor world on their special day.

In addition to having exclusive use of this beautiful venue, you will also be assigned a personal wedding co-ordinator to help you plan a truly unique wedding and make the most of the facilities and space available.
Chalkney Water Meadows can recommend a range of fantastic caterers for your day, so whether you have a passion for pizza, a hankering for a hog roast or believe you cant beat a BBQ, your wedding breakfast can be whatever you dream of.
Whilst all of the facilities at Chalkney Water Meadows are all conveniently situated within close proximity to one another, the spacious location means that you are your guests will be free to move around and mingle with ease.
The triple tipi marquee provides ample space for your wedding reception, with a DJ sound system (music allowed until 11pm) and dance floor, whilst glamping accommodation, showers and toilets are all onsite.
A fire pit provides warmth and light as the evening draws in, and a converted caravan acts as a drinks bar to keep everyone hydrated throughout your wedding day.
The stretch tent provides a wonderful place to relax and provides a back-up ceremony space should some unwelcome rain showers make an appearance on your day. There is also an onsite tent for getting ready, so you can still make an entrance as you arrive at the ceremony pontoon.
HOW MANY GUESTS CAN I INVITE TO Chalkney Water Meadows?
The triple tipi marquee can comfortably seat 150 guests but up to 180 guests can be accommodated if you have a larger guest list.
Glamping facilities are onsite, meaning that guests can stay overnight in single, double or family tents.
A short walk away are two Lakeside Log Cabins with hot tubs. Kingfisher’s Nest (often used as the couple’s suite) is a modern and romantic one bedroom cabin, whilst Water Lily Lodge is a three bedroomed cabin which can be used for families or memories of the wedding party.
