Cooling Castle Barn Wedding Photographer

There are so many reasons why it’s great to be booked as a Cooling Castle Barn wedding photographer and so I was delighted to be as by Luke and Kayan to capture their special day in this stunning venue.

Situated in rural Kent, Cooling Castle Barn is an exclusive use venue – meaning that you won’t have to share any area of the venue with another couple on your day.

With three locations for the ceremony – in the Fathom Barn, the garden pavilion or a short stroll away at St. James’ Church – and space for guests to mingle and you and your partner to get ready, Cooling castle barn really does have it all.

GROOM PREPARATIONS NEAR COOLING CASTLE BARN

Luke – along with his best man and usher – chose to get ready in a nearby Kent hotel prior to arriving at Cooling Castle, in time for the wedding cermeony.

The wedding rings are one of the first things I capture whilst the wedding party are in the first stasges of wedding prep. I then move onto all the other little details; from cufflinks and buttonholes to gifts and watches.

The groom and his party were super chilled on the morning of the wedding day and we had time not only for documentary style images but also some more posed shots by the river.

BRIDAL PREP IN THE MOAT HOUSE

The large, bright, bridal suite in the Moat House at Cooling Castle Barn makes photographing the wedding preparations super easy. Kayan and his team of bridesmaids were full of smiles when I arrived (and these smiles lasted all day) and the look on their faces when they saw the bride in her wedding dress for the first time is one of the moments I love about wedding prep photography.

I loved the little message that Luke had written on the bottom of Kayan’s shoe, it was such a romantic and thoughtful touch.

SHOOTING THE WEDDING CEREMONY IN THE GARDEN PAVILION

Luke and Kayan’s wedding took place on a gorgeous summer day and so they were able to exchange vows and rings in an outdoor ceremony in the garden pavilion. Once the guests had moved from the Heritage Barn (open from 11am for friends and family to congregate on arrival), and were seated, the coolest paige boy and the grogeous bridesmaids walked down the aisle  followed by the Kayan and the father-of-the-bride.

The ceremony was fairly short but full of emotion and after a few drinks and canapes were consumed, we proceeded with some group shots. One of the great features of being a Cooling Castle Barn wedding photographer is getting to work alongisde really helpful staff. The toastmaster helped to round up friends and family as a when required and we meticulously crossed off each group photo that the bride and groom had requested.

PHOTOGRAPHING THE BRIDE AND GROOM AT COOLING CASTLE

There is endless choice for romantic wedding photos at Cooling Castle Barn, from the afore-mentioned gardens, to the backdrop of the castle turrets and – in summertime – the field of corn just across from the venue. We split the wedding photography shoot into three sessions. A quick tour around the grounds prior to the wedding breakfast, a longer laid back photoshoot session after the wedding speeches during the golden hour and a couple of night shots using off-camera-flash once the sun had set.

Luke and Kayan were super comfortable in front of the camera and so whilst I never ask my couples to pose in elaborate ways, this bride and groom were complete naturals and ofte ncame up with their own ideas about how to interact and work with the camera!

WEDDING RECEPTION PHOTOGRAPHY IN THE TITHE BARN

The Tithe Barn is a gorgeous large space that couples can really make their own, depending on the vibe and feel of their wedding day.

Luke and Kayan opted for laterns hung from the ceiling and fairylights wrapped around the beams and this simple styling looked amazing.

Capturing the speeches of the groom, best man, and father-of-the-bride was made easy by the set-up of the top table, but couples can decide what configuration of table plan works best for their day.

Whilst guests moved into the adjacent barn for teas and coffess, the staff at Cooling Castle Barn set the barn up for the evening enterainment. Before we knew it, the newlyweds were swaying to their first dance and the whole wedding party descended on the dance floor to enjoy the sounds of the venue’s resident venue wedding DJ.
