St Bart’s Brewery Wedding Photographer

Graffiti that's says Love Is the Answer

I loved hearing about Kevin and Mark’s plans for their London wedding and as soon as they booked me to be their St Barts Brewery wedding photographer, I couldn’t wait to visit this awesome venue to plan where to take the best images.

Situated in West Smithfield (just across from the famous Smithfield Market), St Bart’s Brewery is both a public house and a wedding venue, with great space for both sit down wedding breakfasts and dancing into the night to all the reception dance floor classics.  In addition to the main bar, there is also the Balfour Bar (a private function and cocktail bar that’s included in the hire of the venue for your wedding day), plus an L-shaped mezzanine that is perfect for

Mark and Kevin chose not to have photographic coverage of their big day preparations, so coverage started with the arrival of their Wedding-special London red bus, which their guests ensured was stocked up with Prosecco ready to toast the handsome couple following their ‘I Dos’.

All of the wedding party hopped on board the London bus and it set off for Islington Town Hall. I loved photographing the atmosphere on board, and the laughter and excitement of all the guests is clear to see in the images.

The Oak-panelled ceremony room at Islington Town Hall is a beautiful setting for a wedding ceremony (and the red leather seats made a great backdrop for the wedding ring shot)!

Mark’s sister delivered a gorgeous reading, and the vows were exchange with a wonderful mixture of heartfelt emotion, happy tears and uncontrolled laughter.

I took the newly married couple to the beautiful corridors of the town hall for some romantic portraits, before everyone hopped back on the bus for a boozy tour of London. As the drinks flowed, we were driven around some of London’s hotspots including the London Eye before arriving back at St Barts for the wedding reception. However, we couldn’t proceed with the rest of the wedding celebrations without an impromptu group confetti shot in front of the iconic red bus.

st bart’s brewery – the perfect venue for reportage photography

Kevin and mark had booked a magician to entertain both themselves and their wedding guests and all the reactions made for brilliant images. In fact, with so much laughter, smiles and large personalities in attendance, I was able to sneak around and capture some fab unscripted documentary photographs.

This is always one my favourite part of being a wedding photographer and because of the way St Barts Brewery is designed, I was able to capture wedding guests from a range of angles and viewpoints to give a really unique perspective. I loved shooting from the upstairs mezzanine in particular.

St Bart’s Brewery is situated in between Barbican and Farrington underground stations and so the surrounding area has so many wonderful locations for vibrant wedding portraits (and of course the obligatory group photos). We took a stroll around the block to find the mix of modern and historic architecture, and we had to make use of the red telephone boxes situated inside Smithfield Market.

Two brightly painted garages made for a fantastic backdrop for more images, and we finished off with a walk down a brick-laned street as the sun started to sink towards sunset. It was then back to St Barts for the parting and cake cutting.

From balloon modelling, to throwing some seriously cool shapes on the dance floor, the wedding evening was filled with just as much fun and laughter as the rest of the day. Even looking at their phone seemed to make guest roar with laughter! The wedding speeches also provided fantastic photO opportunities and I loved Kevin and Mark’s expressions throughout these. You can always tell the quality of the speeches by the guests’ reactions and these images speak for themselves.

All in all a fabulous wedding day and I had a fabulous time being a St Bart’s Brewery wedding photographer.
