If you’re looking for a historic Essex wedding venue with the ‘Wow’ factor, then Hedingham Castle might just be the place for you. Standing proudly above the village of Castle Hedingham in North Essex, Hedingham Castle is an exclusive-use wedding venue that provides an incredible backdrop for your special day.
You can exchange vows during a candlelit ceremony in the Banqueting Hall under one of the largest stone arches in Western Europe, or outside in the castle grounds should you prefer. There is also the option of saying ‘I do’ in the beautiful medieval church of St Nicholas located just a stone’s throw away at the bottom of the drive.
Following your vows, you can have stunning photos taken in the minstrels and by the stunning lake and enjoy a feast of a wedding breakfast in the grounds of the castle. Alternatively, you can make use of an onsite marquee (especially useful if planning a larger wedding).
Hire of Hedingham Castle also includes use of the Mansion House and Garden Cottage, perfect spaces for all your wedding preparations.
WHAT MAKES HEDINGHAM CASTLE SPECIAL?
Your wedding photos really will be like no one else’s at Hedingham Castle, with so much choice for both couple portraits and family group shots. Get showered in confetti as you walk across the Tudor Bridge, let your photographer pull open the castle shutters and capture you illuminated by the golden sunlight, and share a joke as you take a stroll around the landscaped grounds.
Whilst you have your photos taken, cocktails will be served, and an incredible wedding breakfast will be prepared. At Hedingham Castle, you have a choice of three recommended caterers – all of whom can prepare a range of dishes that cater to all dietary preferences and requirements. If you choose to dine in the castle itself, you’ll be seated in the Tapestry Room which is the definition of Tudor splendour. You’ll then enjoy your evening reception on the Garrison floor, with a fitted bar and ample space for a packed dance floor.
It is fair to say that there is no other Essex wedding venue quite as historic and spectacular as Hedingham Castle, but that doesn’t mean that it is only suitable for grand weddings. The team at Hedingham Castle are one of the friendliest and most accommodating in the county and will help you tailor every aspect of your day to suit your tastes, whether you’re planning an intimate wedding or a guestlist of over 100. HOW MANY GUESTS CAN I INVITE TO HEDINGHAM CASTLE?
The maximum capacity for a castle ceremony is 130 (100 seated with 30 standing in the Minstrels)
The maximum capacity for a Castle reception is 70, whilst a Ballroom Marquee reception can accommodate 150 guests plus another 50 for the evening.
Overnight accommodation for up to 17 guests is available onsite in the Medieval Lodge and this can be hired for the night preceding the wedding in addition to the wedding evening itself. The Garden Cottage is where couples can stay on the evening of their special day.
Check out is at 10am on the morning after the wedding.
