Morden Park House is a Georgian Manor House built in 1770 and is located in the beautiful surroundings of Morden Park. Since the year 2000, it has been home to Merton Registry Office and can be hired out for your wedding or civil ceremony. Throughout this period, couples have been able to exchange vows in one of three ceremony rooms or the outside gazebo, before heading off to celebrate elsewhere. However, Morden Park House can now also hold your wedding reception and party due to the addition of a permanent marquee (Spring 2023 onwards).
The three ceremony rooms are available to hire are The Sheridan Room, The Lord Nelson Room and The Ewart Room and by hiring any of these rooms you’ll have access to the front of the house and the beautiful staircase for photographs following your ceremony.
The Sheridan Room is decorated in white and silver, and with French windows that can open out onto the park, it is a light and airy backdrop for saying “I do”.
The Lord Nelson Room features a crystal chandelier and Georgian windows which provide a view of the beautiful courtyard. Here your ceremony will take place surrounded by pale lemon coloured wallpaper and bright blue furnishings.
The Ewart Room is the largest of the three rooms and is located upstairs. With room for a string quartet to soundtrack your ceremony, this lavishly decorated room is accessorised by bronze chandeliers and draped curtains.
Outside, the courtyard can host your canape and drinks reception and / or your wedding breakfast and party. You can also hold your summer wedding outside undo the gazebo. The grounds are beautifully kept, and you and your guest can walk through trellised arches as you arrive for the big day.
It is rare to find a wedding venue in London that is surrounded by beautiful parkland. The views from Morden Park House are truly spectacular and that makes for really stunning photographs.
Having photographed at Morden Park House, I can testify that the staff there are incredibly helpful and friendly, and this is an often-overlooked factor when deciding your wedding venue. There are many ways of ensuring your wedding ceremony is unique here. Choose your own music to be played (ether electronically or with live musicians), select up to two personal readings for friends or family to read out loud, and bring in flowers to style the room to your personal taste. Morden Park House really does bring a whole new perspective to what you can expect from a registry office.
The team at Morden Park can help you to choose from a range of recommended suppliers, from photographers to florists.
