The Compasses at Pattiswick

Tell Me about The Compasses at Pattiswick
The Compasses at Pattiswick is an award-winning Essex wedding venue situated in rural North Essex. The exterior of the building retains a rustic charm, whilst the interior is open-plan and contemporary in design. It has been deliberately designed to be a blank canvas to enable couples like you to decorate it in any style you wish.
The venue is set amongst beautiful countryside, meaning that stunning wedding photos are easy to capture. Access to nearby fields means that romantic sun-kissed portraits can be captured quickly without straying too far from your guests, and the sun sets opposite the venue so creative silhouettes are also a favourite here.
To the side of the building is a landscaped lawn where you and your guests can gather for canapes during the spring and summer months, whilst a log burner will keep you warm on colder days. There is a fully staffed bar ensuring the drinks are always flowing, and a private room for all your wedding preparations on the morning of your special day.
Once your ceremony has taken place, staff will transform the room into the perfect space for your wedding breakfast and wedding reception and you’ll be all set to party into the night.

What makes The Compasses at Pattiswick special?
One of the most noteworthy features of The Compasses at Pattiswick is the friendliness of the staff. In fact, whilst the venue itself won Best Essex Wedding Venue at the 2020 Essex Wedding Awards, the staff also won The Best Wedding Event Team.
Owners / Managers Jane and Jono Clark do not believe in set packages or formulaic weddings and understand that the perfect wedding venue is not simply about the buildings and location but also the people. From the moment you meet the team, they aim to create a bond with you to develop a deep understanding of what you want from your wedding.
The team philosophy is to strive to say ‘Yes’ and this stems from their experience of providing catering at other venues where couples were charged for add-ons such as a knife to cut the cake and having additional evening guests. It is true that these things can really cause a lot of irritation and resentment when wedding planning, so an accommodating and flexible venue team are worth their weight in gold.
When it comes to recommending other suppliers, the team here can provide details of professionals who adhere to the same high standards of customer service and attention to detail. Jane’s past career as an award-winning florist also means she can provide a wealth of knowledge on wedding flowers and styling.
Catering is another area where The Compasses at Pattiswick excel, and their onsite catering is yet another feature that has won them numerous awards. They have an open and honest approach to pricing and so you’ll be provided with a full breakdown of costs prior to making your booking, and no nasty surprises or add-ons later. There really is a family-feel at The Compasses at Pattiswick and you’ll feel part of this family as soon as you choose it as your Essex wedding venue.

How many guests can I invite to The Compasses at Pattiswick?
The Compasses at Pattiswick can cater for ‘small weddings of 50 people, informal gatherings of 90 people or lavish occasions with 120 guests.’
There is no onsite accommodation, but the owners can recommend excellent local B&Bs, hotels, and self-catering options.
