A SHORT GUIDE TO KENSINGTON WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY BY ROSS WILLSHER
Located in the heart of London – directly opposite the beautiful Kensington Palace and its gardens – The Milestone Hotel is a 5 star hotel and wedding venue that offers beautifully styled and wonderfuly intimate luxury weddings. Andrew and David’s LGBTQ wedding was my first time being a Milestone Hotel wedding photographer and I was impressed not only by the many opportunities for gorgeous wedding photographs, but by the kindness and courtesy of all of the staff.
FROM MARYLEBONE TOWN HALL TO THE MILESTONE HOTEL
The Milestone Hotel is licensed for civil ceremonies and there are two rooms to choose from for your special day. The Oratory is a stunning historic small circular space that accommodates 8 guests for a really intimate ceremony, Couples can also choose to marry in The Windsor Suite – another beautiful space which is larger and can seat up to 80 guests.
However, on this occasion – my first experience as a Milestone Hotel wedding photographer – the couple chose to exchange vows at the iconic Marylebone Town Hall which is a short taxi ride away.
MY FAVOURITE PHOTOGRAPHY LOCATIONS AT THE MILESTONE HOTEL
Andrew and David’s wedding preparations were photographed in the Ruhlmann Suite – inspired by the Art Deco style of Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann. The suite overlooked Kensington Gardens and provided a perfect backdrop for capturing them don their tuxedos and bow ties. Once ready, we took some portraits on the antique staircase and out the front of the hotel. On returning from their ceremony, we took a tour of Kensington Gardens where we photographed the couple in front of the stunning Kensington Palace.
One of the advantages of booking a Milestone Hotel wedding is how close it is to a range of compelling backdrops of photography locations, and how many interior locations it has that couples can also be photographed in.
tips for planning a milestone hotel wedding
Whether you choose to hold your entire wedding at The Milestone or hire it for a post Town Hall celebration, it is important to factor in enough time for the wedding photography content you want captured. Kensington Palace and the gardens get extremely busy, and there is no guarantee of good weather, so chat with your wedding photographer about contingency plans.
The staff are extremely helpful and you will have your own wedding planner to help you curate your Milestone Hotel wedding, so make the most of this benefit and reach out whenever you have any questions or concerns.
Be aware that there may be other hotel guests on site at certain times of the day, even though your celebration will remain eitrely private.

How far is Marylebone Town Hall from The Milestone Hotel?
It takes just over 20 minutes to travel from The Milestone Hotel to the Old Marylebone Town Hall by car. It is wise to allow extra time in case of delays.
